How Evil are Instant Messengers?

In the past, I used to give the excuse that I was bored of instant messengers (e.g. MSN Messenger), in order to escape having to use them regularly. But the truth is, these evil pieces of software suck up too much of my productivity.

When I recently started using MSN Messenger regularly again (or at least semi-regularly), I was getting at least 5 new dialog initiations every half hour during peak hours. And that’s when BUSY mode was on…

So, I’ve been coming online a little bit less since last week as I’ve tons of work online to do, from web design to blogging. Of course, I’m not saying at all that you should stop initiating conversations with me. After all, who in the world would be that stupid anyhow… But please forgive me if I don’t reply occasionally.
